Stare into my eyes.. by darkSoul4Life Stare into my eyes.. by darkSoul4Life
..if you would like to feel my claws.
People like to look into each other eyes and of course they like to look into the animals eyes but that could be the last thing you might do. These cats have very beautiful eyes and it's sometimes not easy to ignore them but you shouldn't forget that you are threatening them by staring into the eyes and you should avoid it if you aren't 100% sure that you are in safety.

Lets celebrate the International Cheetah Day with a cheetah photo spam :D
If you care about these magnificent felines you should support the Cheetah Conservation Fund!
If you like cheetahs, have a look at this folder containing mainly high quality cheetah photos: [link] more cheetah photos will be posted during the day ;)
I'm participating with this photo in the International Cheetah Day Challenge. Follow the link if you would like to know more about it.

Feedback is also highly appreciated Photo 12/17; more are coming during the day

I would love to use your beautiful photo here, for a drawing...not intended for purchase, just study.  This is probably one of the best macro portrait's of a Cheetah I've seen, anywhere, and thank you for sharing it, and for caring about the Cheetah's!!

Thank you. You can't imagine how the slightly wrong focus annoys me but that's the problem you have when you are short sighted and you are using manual focus. My telephoto lens has autofocus but it's so slow that the cheetah would have been away before it got the focus.. that thing takes some seconds.

Oh I can. My camera currently has a backfocusing sensor, so I never know when i'm in focus..

Oh really? What lens do you have?

Can't you send your camera and lenses for calibration to nikon? Or does your camera has an focus adjustment setting?

I have a Canon EF 75-300 f/4-5.6 III which has a slow micro motor and no image stabilizer. The focus works much better with the only cross type sensor of my camera but I never center my photos so I can't use it and have to struggle with manual focus. And it's not really fast even with the cross type sensor in good light conditions. My Canon EF 28-80 f/3.5-5.6 USM works very fast with every focus sensor of my camera - even in low light conditions therefore it's not the fault of the af sensors. It's also the only of my lenses with which I use autofocus.

Nope. It all needs to go back for repair.. which will cost about 300 :/

Ah fair enough.. i've never used that one myself, but i've heard numerous reports of the same thing.
Yeah.. the problem is that modern SLRs are not really designed to be manually focused. The viewfinders are just too small and they're only accurate down to about F4 :/

Well the problem is that you can't completely own your photos taken in zoos here in Germany which means that I have to get a permission first for using the photos I took commercially. It also cost some money depending on the zoo so I prefer keeping it non commercial.

Thank you so much. Well it didn't turn out perfect but one of the better ones of course. The hard truth is that it is killed by image noise and a too shallow depth of field.

Thank you so much. You forgot a little thing: + manually focused ;) (and nothing cropped of course) I still can't believe that I got it like this. Ok focus on the eyes would have been much nicer but the nose is nice too ^^

hehe :XD:

Nice. Really nice. My only quibble is that the eyes (especially the one above your watermark) seem a little grainy from over-sharpening. Other than that, this is amazing. It's breathtaking even from the thumbnail.

Thank you a lot. Well that's the noise that is left after a bit noise reduction when using such an old camera (that thing kills all fine details with everything over ISO 400). Sorry but I got a bit too lazy for selective stronger noise reduction like I do mostly. I applied all sharpening with a masked layer so that the eyes aren't sharpened and that noise isn't increased. Trust me, I know how to sharpen images without boosting the noise/grain ;)
