I hate taking photos through glass. Reflections are the most annoying thing and I can't use my circular polarizer because the end of my lens rotates when focusing -.-

Anyways this is again the Snow Leopard (Uncia Uncia or Panthera Uncia) from the zoo of cologne.

They're one of the most beautiful animals but poachers don't care about what wonderful animals they are, so the snow leopard is going toward extinction..

More shots of this beauty:

Camera: Canon EOS 400D
Lens: Canon EF 75-300
Cropped to get rid of reflections..

Dommage !

Why is it that almost all snow leopards have the same face. I've seen a few exceptions.... I have a poster of one such exception, you only know it's a snow leopard because of the coat pattern. But to me it's kind of hard to call them beautiful when they all look the same.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it. Glass is far worse than fence, even if I use my point and shoot camera..

I have the same problem, with the point and shoot or with the dslr camera, glass can ruin any picture >< sometimes photoshop helps to remove some stains but I hate to do that,I barely retouch my pictures and I barely know how to use photoshop D:

thanks for the link! i have to shoot through wire fence for amur and snow leopards, but all the other cats are open air exhibits.

It was my pleasure :) I'm used to shoot through wire fence, it's not a problem for me anymore but glass? It's the worst thing ever.
The open air enclosures also have the disadvantage that you can't use a low angle.

glass is definitely the worst. it's the reason i have very few primate and reptile pictures in my gallery.

By all means...HATE the glass, KILL the glass, BAN the glass :anger: (and the children who get it so goddamn dirty =p)
And it's so funny, I photographed these snowleopards too (been to Cologne last autumn), they're so damn gorgeous  Love how the eyes stand out in this shot.

Yeah glass between animals and us is the most annoying thing. I wish there wouldn't be glass or fence even if it means it's much more dangerous.
Many thanks :)
