You can't imagine how difficult it can be with a normal telephoto lens with this guy sitting in front of glass especially when children run in your shot because you have to stay 1.5m away from the cage to be able to get a focus. Additionally the air conditions there caused my lens to fog a few seconds after cleaning it.

Photo taken at the zoo of cologne.

Comments as well as critiques are much appreciated!

Ooo. I like this. The colourful bokeh really works here, and it's blown off really nicely. I'm amazed you got it that nice at F5.6!
Great portrait composition too :)

Thank you so much :) Well the lens produces good images as long as your subject is closer than 7m and farther away than 1.5m even at open aperture. I don't know how you could get such a photo with closed aperture, there's almost not enough light to get it shake free at f/5.6.

Yeah... that's one of the reasons I went for an F4 lens. You get double the shutter speed of an F5.6...

It worked though. That depth of field is really nice :)

Love how the animal's colours return in the background colour palette.

Thank you very much :)
Too bad it's quite noisy after strong noise reduction. I know now why the 400D normally hasn't a ISO 3200 setting..
