Bess, the female jaguar from the zoo of Krefeld, became very curious of the three photographers in front of the glass with one building up studio equipment (flash, reflector) and another one lying on the ground. She rushed toward us and on the top of the tree stump above the water looking curious.
The jaguar is a solitary animal which looks a bit like a leopard but has some big differences. A jaguar is way more bulkier than a leopard and has a more round looking head while the head of the leopard reminds more of an oval. The fur marks are also different, the leopard only has rosettes on his coat while the jaguar has larger rosettes with dot(s) inside it.
The background isn't manipulated in any way. I know this shot isn't that nice but I like her pose. She's a real stunner. Do you think I should lighten her up a bit?

I think the shot is stunning as it is. Like a ghost coming out of the darkness to pounce. If you lighten it I think I think it will take away something away from the primal nature of the piece. It's like you can imagine you're walking through the jungle and heard a twig snap. You turn your head and there she is...
Seeing them in the wild is next to impossible except with night cameras with motion sensors. The Northern Jaguar Preserve in Mexico has photos of adults [link] but only recently got a photo of a cub.
